Jerome R. Rennekamp's Obituary
Jerome R. Rennekamp, age 76 of Brookville, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Born October 27, 1937 in Batesville, he is the son of Rosemarie (Nee: Abplanalp) and Lawrence Rennekamp. He married Mary Werner July 22, 1961 at St. Louis Church. Jerry served in the Air Force from 1957 to 1961. He retired from the maintenance department of the Sunman-Dearborn School Corporation in 2003.
Having served in the Air Force, Jerry had a natural fondness for all things airplane related. Not only was he proud of his service, but was equally proud to have been the Crew Chief on a B-52 bomber. He liked working with his hands and took great pleasure helping his son on his farm. His family talked about his willingness to help others........even democrats. They also mentioned he liked watching anything sports related, was an avid Pacer's fan, liked a good steak, could spend hours at a Home Depot store and apparently had a mean sweet tooth with a weakness for apple pie. Jerry was proud of his children and loved to dote on the grandchildren, never missing an event or function they'd participate in.
He is survived by his wife Mary; daughter and son-in-law Julie and Dennis Hamby of Aurora, Indiana; son and daughter-in-law Eric and Barbara Rennekamp of St. Peters, Indiana; sister Joan Botts of Plainfield, Indiana; brother Larry Rennekamp of Waldron, Indiana; grandchildren Lauren Russell, Nick Hamby, Emily Rennekamp, Jacob Rennekamp, Kathryn Rennekamp, Andrew Rennekamp and great grandchild Parker Russell. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is Saturday, October 25th, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Damian Cesanek O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183. The family requests memorials to the North Dearborn Food Pantry or Rescue 20.
