Joanne C. Clark (Nee: Springmeyer)'s Obituary
Joanne C. Clark, age 82 of Greensburg and formerly of Batesville, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis. Born July 27, 1929 in Greensburg, she is the daughter of Irene (Nee: Bedinghaus) and Christopher Springmeyer. She married Andrew Clark June 7, 1958 at St. Mary’s Church in Greensburg and he preceded her in death July 31, 2010. Joanne worked at Margaret Mary Hospital in the Dietary Department for ten years as well as being a bookkeeper for twenty years. Ten of those years were at Kocher Ford and ten years with Clark Construction before retiring in 1994. Her family described mom as polite, humble and nurturing. She was never one for rumors or to speak ill of anyone. If fact her kids grew up hearing “If you can’t say anything decent, don’t say anything at all.” It was her nature to put others ahead of herself and make sure everyone else’s needs were taken care of first. Her mother-in-law’s last seven years were spent in a nursing home and Joanne would visit her every day. Other memories the kids have of mom are her loved of flowers and the pies she baked with that incredibly light and flakey crust. But, without a doubt, her organization and laughter is what they remember most. Although they teased about mom making lists and planning, they most admired her love of laugher, and more importantly her ability to laugh at herself. Joanne is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws Susan and Patrick Hanley of Richmond, Virginia, Cathy and Pat Cleveland of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, Mary Jo Clark of Indianapolis; sons and daughter-in-laws Paul and Lisa Clark of Indianapolis, Michael Clark of Lookout, Indiana, Jim and Carol Clark of Zionsville, Indiana; sister Juanita Scheidler of Greensburg; brothers Vince, Wayne and John Springmeyer, all of Greensburg and eight grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by brothers Dale, Leroy, Cliff (Eugene) and Don Springmeyer. Visitation is Thursday, July 12th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Randy Summers officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Greensburg. The family requests memorials to the Oldenburg Academy Scholarship Fund.
