Joellen Dietz's Obituary
Joellen Dietz, age 81 of Batesville, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at her home. Born March 15, 1934 in Oldenburg, she is the daughter of Seraphine (Nee: Schulte) and Joseph Ferkinhoff. She married James Dietz October 26, 1957 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg. She enjoyed working as a Remedial Reading Aide at St. Louis School and in the cafeteria at the Batesville Primary School.
A quiet light, a beautiful lady, a smile for everyone, patient and gentle, devoted to family is how those who knew Joellen would describe her. She truly loved her family and that is what brought her the most happiness in life. She was a wonderful cook especially her roast beef and coffee cakes. Everything was made from scratch just by throwing a little of this and that together. Joellen could truly make something out of nothing! Her favorite T.V. show was Dancing with the Stars and she also watched college basketball, pro football and golf on the weekends with Jim. She enjoyed tending to the flowers around the house and mowing grass on the John Deere mower.
She is survived by her husband Jim; daughters Christy Moenter of Batesville, Jan Alexander of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Paula Lehman of Nineveh, Indiana, Karen Bruns of Batesville; sister Donna Schutte of Oldenburg; brother Marvin Ferkinhoff of Brookville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sister Mary Tekulve and brothers Dan and Cliff Ferkinhoff.
Visitation is Saturday, November 21st, from 9 - 11 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral mass follows at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Joellen's wishes were to be cremated following services. A private family interment will be held at a later date. The family requests memorials to the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice or St. Louis School.
