Jon K. Yorn's Obituary
Jon Keith Yorn was born in Batesville on March 23, 1953, to Melvin and Evelyn (Belter) Yorn. He has two brothers; Joel of Indianapolis and Mark of Batesville. He died March 13, 2009, at Margaret Mary Hospital at the age of 55.Jon married his high school sweetheart, Jane Lindenmeyer and together they raised three children. Their son Jason, his wife Stephanie and daughters Ella and Annie live in Cincinnati and in recent years his time being “PopPop” to his granddaughters brought him endless joy. Their daughter, Erin, resides in Chicago with her new husband, Axel Ortiz. In January, their youngest daughter Elizabeth and husband Ian McDonald added grandson Quinn to the Yorn family. He is preceded in death by his parents.Jon was the happiest when spending time with his family and friends and was well-known for hosting scavenger hunts and gatherings at the Yorn home near Hamburg. He had a great love of the outdoors and nature – a love that he passed along to his children and shared with many of his friends who joined him for hiking and hunting excursions on the family farm.All who met Jon quickly learned of his great passion for aircraft and flying. Many of his happiest moments were spent with friends who shared in his dream of building and flying his own airplane. That dream was realized just days before his death.Visitation is Tuesday, March 17th, from 3-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A service will follow at 7 p.m. Services will also be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18th, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Batesville with burial following in the Batesville United Methodist Cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Ripley County Community Foundation Jon Yorn Memorial Fund.
