Judith A. McDonald's Obituary
Judith A. McDonald, age 75 of Batesville, died Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born April 14, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Eva (Nee: Lorenzen) and Leroy Cotton. She married Hubert “Mac” McDonald February 1, 1960 in Reno, Nevada and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2006. Judy served in the Navy from 1958 to 1960 and would become a homemaker after the service.
Her daughters described mom as a sports junkie. She watched it all, from football to tennis and everything in between. An avid Reds fan, she also looked forward to March Madness and rooting for Duke and liked to watch Tom Brady play. Although her daughters didn’t care for her taste in basketball and football teams, they teased that they wouldn’t hold it against her. The time she and Mac spent in the service kept the family on the move fairly often. Judy would enjoy decorating each new location turning into home for the family as well as spending time working in the yard and in her flower beds. Mom liked animals and the girls always remember having a dog in the house. They also remember coming home from school to watch Star Trek and Dark Shadows with her. And while she was pretty proficient at crossword puzzles, well, maybe not so much in the kitchen. Judy liked to travel and a belated honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls was among her favorites.
She is survived by her daughters Tammy Schmidt of Batesville, Teresa Kepner of West Lafayette, Indiana and grandchildren Kevin, Trisha, Tiffany and Keith. Visitation is Wednesday, April 30th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 1 p.m. and burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Manchester, Indiana. The family requests memorials to the Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research Fund.
