June Moenter's Obituary
Thelma June Moenter, age 90 of Batesville, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis. Born June 8, 1922 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Ethel (Nee: Schultz) and John Wernke. She married Herbert Moenter June 30, 1945 at St. Louis Church, celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary last June. He preceded her in death October 14, 2012.June worked 40 years as a medical secretary in Batesville at Margaret Mary Hospital as well as helping doctors’ Paras, Jaojoco, Glaser and Hansen. She was the organist for St. Anthony’s Church in Morris 27 years and gave unselfishly of her time to provide beautiful music at church services, weddings and funerals. June was a member of the Batesville Business and Professional Women, the Batesville Women’s Study Club, the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary, St. Louis Church and the St. Louis Ladies Society.Her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her the greatest joy. She had a way of making each one of them feel special. She enjoyed watching basketball and baseball especially when the Pacers and Reds were on television. June celebrated her 90th birthday by attending a Pacer’s game, the pre-game shoot around and having pictures made with her favorite players. Her favorite pastimes were reading and working the daily crossword puzzle.She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Jeff Moorman of Avon, Indiana; sons and daughter-in-laws Ron and Debbie Moenter of Shelbyville, Indiana, Eric and Kim Moenter, Keith and Christy Moenter, all of Batesville, Kurt Moenter of Beech Grove, Indiana; sister-in-law Romilda Moenter; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death her sister Geraldine Kaiser.Visitation is Wednesday, January 30th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31st, at St. Louis Church with her nephew Rev. Alan Hirt O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the June and Herb Moenter Music Scholarship Fund or the Batesville Beautification League.
