Kathleen J. Struewing's Obituary
Kathleen Joan Struewing, age 78 of Batesville, Indiana, died Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. Born February 12, 1932 in Greensburg, Indiana she is the daughter of Eleanor (Nee: Hellmich) and Edmund “Bob” Etter. She married Jim Struewing on May 30, 1953 at St. Louis church in Batesville. Upon graduation from the Academy of the Immaculate Conception, she became bookkeeper for Benz’s Meat Market until her marriage. Later she worked at the Danner’s Variety Store in Batesville from its opening in 1970 until its closing in 1985 and continued to work for other retail stores before retiring.Kathleen is best remembered by her family for her strong dedication and perseverance in always giving no less than her best at the everyday activities and chores she cheerfully fulfilled. She enjoyed sewing for her family as well as flower and vegetable gardening. Traveling was another passion for her whether it was visiting family and friends, shopping, or vacationing. She was also in attendance at nearly every milestone event of her five granddaughters, celebrating their achievements. She is survived by her husband Jim; two daughters, Janice Grieshop of Greenwood, Indiana and Linda (Jim) Keller of Carmel, Indiana; two sons, Tom (Sandy) Struewing of Fishers, Indiana and Bob Struewing of Schaumburg, Illinois and five grandchildren, Kelly (Louie) Stephon, Katelin Keller, Allison Keller, Jana Struewing and Kaylee Struewing. She is also survived by three cousins, Joe Hellmich and Alice Hall of Greensburg, Indiana and Grace Ellerman of St. Paul, Indiana. Visitation is Tuesday, June 1st from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 2nd, at St. Louis church with Rev. Steven Akange officiating and burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School Tuition Angels Program or Oldenburg Academy.
