Kathleen A. "Tudy" Kurtz's Obituary
Kathleen A. "Tudy" Kurtz, age 90 of Batesville, died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at her home. Born December 20, 1925 in Milan, Indiana, she is the daughter of Clara (Nee: Puente) and Omer Seevers. She married Edward Kurtz April 7, 1951 at St. Louis Church. A member of St. Louis Church, Tudy was a secretary at the Romweber Furniture Company five years and twenty five years for Batesville Water and Gas. She was responsible for setting up the initial computerized billing system for the utility in the eighties.
Her family's most enduring memory of Tudy was her sheer will. A strong individual, she wouldn't let anything get her down. She would meet a challenge head on and resolve it. Her family also explained that she was a great cook and her fried chicken was second to none. When someone else did the cooking, she had a weakness for breads and sweets. Tudy was talented with a needle and thread or yarn. She crocheted dolls and sewed baby blankets for the grandchildren in addition to making most of the curtains for her home. Tudy also enjoyed Coca Cola, college basketball, playing cards, especially 500 and tending to her flowers around the house with Eddie's help.
She is survived by her husband Eddie; sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Molly Kurtz of Newark, Ohio, Daryl and Marcia Kurtz of Batesville; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Karen Kurtz; sister Dorothy Denni and brother Robert Seevers.
Visitation is Tuesday, December 29th, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating and burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Margaret Mary Health Hospice Foundation.
