Kira M. Riley's Obituary
Kira M. Riley, age 18 of Moores Hill, died March 22, 2011. Born May 10, 1992 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Joe (Rico) and the late Paula (Nee: Heidorn) Riley. She was a graduate of Batesville High and a student at Indiana University. She was a member of the Batesville Singers and NORML Advocacy Group. Kira was blessed with musical talent. An accomplished singer, she also participated in theater and dance, so it was no surprise she was a fan of Glee and American Idol on T.V. She had the gift of being able to pick up any instrument and play it well and had auditioned for the Julliard School of Performing Arts. Her family described her as “earthy.” She held strong animal and human rights views and was very much interested in political issues. Family and friends remember her as a sensitive individual who always willing to help others and her bright, energetic smile. Her family was proud she was able to visit Germany through the Indiana Honors Program with the requirement that she speak only German during the trip. Quiet times found her spending time with her family, especially visiting her grandmother and pursuing her hobby of photography. She is survived by her father Rico and step-mother Joan of Moores Hill; sister and brother-in-law Kayla and James Hess of New Point; brother Dustin Riley of Versailles; paternal grandmother Lorena Riley of New Point; maternal grandfather William Heidorn of Napoleon; aunt Lori Heidorn of Brookville; aunt and uncle Sarah and Larry Riehle of Morris and cousins Cory Heidorn and Sarah, Jeff, Stacy, Carson and Kaylee Riehle. In addition to her mother, she is also preceded in death by paternal grandfather Albert Riley and maternal grandmother Charlene Heidorn.Visitation is Saturday, March 26th, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. with Chris Ault officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
