Len Johnson Jr.'s Obituary
Len Johnson Jr., age 85 of Morris, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born September 29, 1925 in Brookville, Indiana, he is the son of Ellen (Nee: Hillard) and Len Johnson Sr. He married Mary Amberger June 4, 1949 in Connersville, Indiana and she preceded him in death September 1, 2010. Len was a military parts quality controller for the U.S. Defense Department full time until he turned 65 at which time he semi-retired and continued to work for them on a part time basis. He served in World War II under General Patton and was a Purple Heart recipient. Len was a member of the Connersville American Legion Post #1 also having served as commander, the Ripley County 40 & 8 and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his sister Patricia McMichael of Edinburg, Indiana as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by brothers Willard and Cecil Johnson and his sister Catherine Brothers. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 22nd, at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Morris with Rev. Jill Kepler-Campbell officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271.
