Leona M. Moeller's Obituary
Leona M. Moeller, age 81 of Batesville, died Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Waters of Batesville. Born April 26, 1934 in Decatur County Indiana, she is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Duvelius) and Harry Kinker. She married Donald Meyer May 21, 1955 at St. John's Church in Enochsburg and he preceded her in death April 13, 1963. She married William Moeller November 28, 1964 at St. John's Church and he preceded her in death September 23, 2007. She was a homemaker and a member of the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 Ladies Auxiliary and St. Louis Church.
According to her family, Leona had three passions. First and foremost was her family, although not far behind were bingo and the casino. She could catch bingo five days of the week by going to Batesville, Milan, Morris, Rushville and Greensburg where she would play anywhere from 24 to 36 cards, while the Rising Star Casino lost a member of their diamond club. It was also indicated the family is going to miss her coffee cakes. Despite having her recipe, no one's sure they can duplicate it. Leona also enjoyed playing golf, watching the Game Show Network, crocheting and was an avid Reds fan. She and Bill were able to travel throughout the country as well as taking a couple of cruises. Among her favorites was an Amtrak tour of the west. It also appears she had a bit of a weakness for Twinkies, but had to switch to snowballs after they stopped making Twinkies.
Leona is survived by her daughters Carol Bergman, Cheryl Siebert; sons Gary Meyer and Scott Moeller, all of Batesville; sisters Loretta Kinker of Greensburg, Julia Pumphrey of Columbus, Indiana, Rosemary Cook of Batesville; brothers Omer and Louis Kinker of Enochsburg; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Virginia Heck and Margaret Mollaun.
Visitation is Wednesday, October 21st, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, October 22nd at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to New Horizons.
