Leroy H. Grossman's Obituary
Leroy H. Grossman, age 80 of Fishers, Indiana and formerly of Batesville, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana. Born February 24, 1927 in Batesville, he is the son of Clara (Nee: Thrine) and Raymond Grossman. He married Thelma Wolter July 1, 1967, at St. Maurice Church in St. Maurice, Indiana. Leroy was a Master Wood Carver, working 43 years for the Romweber Company and 20 years part time for Weberding’s Carving Shop. Through the years, he was always willing to donate pieces to local organizations and churches to be raffled for charitable events and would cheerfully agree to demonstrate his carving skills when asked. He also enjoyed gardening and people. Leroy was one of those individuals who never met a stranger. He was a member of St. Louis Church, the Batesville Beautification League, Knights of St. John, the Cincinnati Rock & Mineral Society, National Wood Carver’s Association, and the Dry Dredger’s Society of Cincinnati.Leroy is survived by his wife Thelma, daughters Maria Grossman of Fishers, Valerie Davenport of Avon, Indiana; sister Rosalie Geis of Batesville; grandchildren Alec and Katlyn Grossman and Sascha Davenport. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his grandson Jacob Grossman. Visitation is Thursday, November 15th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Friday November 16th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Oldenburg Academy.
