Linda M. Hollis' Obituary
Linda M. Hollis, age 52 of Sunman, died Monday, June 20, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove Indiana. Born July 7, 1958 in Greensburg, she is the daughter of Evelyn (Nee: Schwering) and Justin Johannigman. She married Jim Hollis August 14, 1982 at Immaculate Conception Church in Millhousen. She was a pharmacist for the Decatur County Hospital and a member of St. Nicholas Church near Sunman.Linda was blessed with many talents, but without question her family indicated her green thumb was second to none. She loved flower gardening and amazed family and friends with her ability to grow roses. Although she never made it to the Rose Festival in Oregon, several trips to Oregon made it a favorite place to visit. She played guitar and had a beautiful singing voice. She also enjoyed dancing. Jim said at weddings it was common for her to spend most of the night dancing. Her family also talked of her love of babies. She earned the nickname “baby whisperer” since it seemed she was always holding and rocking the babies in the room. Although she was a good cook, she was an even better baker, especially desserts. Linda always enjoyed a good laugh and her family teased that when something really struck her funny, she snorted when she laughed. She is most remembered as a romantic at heart. Quiet times found her reading romance novels or watching movies based on books from romance author Jane Austin set in the 18th century. She also liked the cable show “Say Yes to The Dress” about women choosing their wedding dress. She is survived by her husband Jim; daughter Catie Hollis of Sunman; son Justin Hollis of Sunman; mother Evelyn Johannigman of Millhousen; sisters Susan Koors of Greensburg, Mary Moorman of Sunman, Julie Bower of Oldenburg, Karen Brown of Greensburg and brothers Tom Johannigman of Millhousen and Mark Johannigman of Finley, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her father.Visitation is Thursday, June 23rd, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, June 24th, at St. Nicholas Church with Rev. Gregory Bramlage officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research or the St. Nicholas School Building Fund.
