Lloyd W. Blair's Obituary
Lloyd W. Blair, age 76 of Morris, died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his residence. Born October 24, 1937 in Batesville, he is the son of Florence (Nee: Meyers) and William Blair. He married Janet Moorman July 6, 1963 at St. Anthony's Church in Morris. Lloyd served in the Navy from 1954 to 1958 before going to work at Print-Pak as a printer/press operator, retiring in 2004 after 39 years.
Lloyd was one of those individuals who never met a stranger. Very outgoing, his family indicated there weren't many places in the area that he didn't stop at regularly to visit or pick up something and shoot the breeze. They also described him as what used to be known as a "tinkerer." Mechanically gifted, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He especially enjoyed tinkering with old lawn mowers that had been discarded and delighted in bringing them back to life. Other hobbies included walking daily at the YMCA, jig saw puzzles and word searches, gardening (at the "nudging" of Janet) in addition to being a league bowler for many years. He loved cheeseburgers and apparently was a bit of a chocoholic. The grandkids were the apple of grandpa's eye and Lloyd rarely missed any of their sporting events, school programs or other extracurricular activities.
He is survived by his wife Janet; daughters Tammi Wintz, Jackie Blair, Jill Duerstock, all of Batesville; sister Dorothy Mersch of Cincinnati, Ohio and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Carol Meyer and brother Edward Meyers.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 3rd, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday, September 4th, at St. Anthony's Church with Rev. Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice or Margaret Mary Health Cancer Center (Hansen Center).
