Lois M. Laudick's Obituary
Lois M. Laudick, age 81 of Batesville, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Margaret Mary Health. Born May 19, 1933 in Decatur County Indiana, she is the daughter of Mary (Nee: Hessler) and Bernard Harpring. She married Alvin Laudick July 8, 1953 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Lois worked in the sewing department of Batesville Casket Company 25 years before retiring in 1998 and was a member of St. Louis Church and longtime member of the St. Louis Bereavement Committee.
Her family explained that "mom could fix anything. Mechanical, plumbing, it didn't matter, she could fix it." She was also an avid golfer and apparently there is some debate in the family as to who was better.....dad or mom. A wonderful cook, her roast beef was pretty hard to beat and Lois like to bird watch, especially her cardinals. The kids mentioned that mom liked to stay busy and don't really remember her watching much T.V. until recent years. The Walton's, Little House on Prairie, All in the Family and anything on the Hallmark channel would become huge favorites though. Lois loved little ones so naturally she adored having her grandkids and great grandkids around to spoil.
She is survived by her husband Alvin (Speed); daughters Mary (Brent) Gibson, Kimberly (Eric) Moenter, both of Batesville; son Gregory (Marilyn) Laudick of Guilford, Indiana; sisters Luella Lecher of Greensburg, Indiana, Elvera Wissel of Batesville; brother Vernon Harpring of Batesville; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Joan Schoettmer, Irma Harpring and brothers Edgar "Bud" and Bernard Harpring.
Visitation is Friday, March 13th, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 5 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Ruth Lyons Fund or the Alzheimer's Support Groups of Southeastern Indiana.
