Lois E. Neyer's Obituary
Lois E. Neyer, age 88 of Batesville, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at St. Andrew's Health Campus. Born March 17, 1927 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Edna (Nee: Miller) and Irvin Huneke. She married William Neyer August 22, 1951 and he preceded her in death November 11, 2008. Lois was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church for over 60 years, the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American (WELCA) and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Union Furniture Company for 15 years.
Lois was detail oriented and her sons marveled that she remained able and energetic until the last few weeks. Her ability to recall people and events was uncanny. Lois kept active as a member of the YMCA's Silver Sneakers, enjoyed reading mysteries, watching her hummingbirds, tending to her flowers and apparently was a fan of NCIS and Mountain Men. Each Monday, she looked forward to meeting up with her sisters to decide where to go and what to do for the day. The only thing to top girls day out was spending time with and spoiling her three grandchildren and recently born great grandson.
Lois is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Michael and Arlene Neyer of Greenwood, Indiana, Thomas and Rhonda Neyer of Madison, Indiana; sisters Janice Collins and Joyce Meyer, both of Batesville; brother Wayne Huneke of Belleair Bluffs, Florida; grandchildren Ben and Megan Neyer, Ashley Rafla and great grandson Alex Neyer. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Maxine Kern and brother Estal Huneke.
Visitation is Wednesday, August 5th, from 10 - 11:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Jill Kepler-Campbell officiating with burial in the St. Louis Cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Mark Church or the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
