Luke R. Kaiser's Obituary
Luke R. Kaiser, age 81 of Oldenburg, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at Hospitality Hall in Batesville. Born August 26, 1924 in Cranberry Prairie, Ohio, he is the son of Frances (Nee: Buehler) and William Kaiser. He married Irma Hiltz August 20, 1949 at St. John the Baptist Church in Dover, Indiana.Luke served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the 249th Combat Engineers. He was a truck driver for over 50 years and owner/operator of Kaiser Trucking. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183, Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271, the 249th Combat Engineers and the Oldenburg Conservation Club. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an accomplished trap shooter. He also enjoyed restoring and driving his father-iin-laws 1936 Chevy.He is survived by his wife Irma; daughter Beverly Joyce of Brownsburg, Indiana; sons Steve and Mark, both of Oldenburg, Michael of Lebanon, Ohio; sisters Rita McGreevy of Sydney, Ohio, Betty Holtel of Oldenburg; brothers Vic of Batesville, Carl of Oldenburg; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Belinda Hartman; sister Irene Treon and brother Cyril.Visitation is Thursday, April 27th, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, April 28th, at Holy Family Church with the Rev. Humbert Moster O.F.M., officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. Memorials may be made to the Oldenburg Conservation Club or Batesville E.M.S. 10.
