Lynn Allen Roemmich's Obituary
Lynn Allen Roemmich, age 73 of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, at Orlando Regional Medical Center Cancer Institute in Orlando, Florida. Born June 9, 1952, at Tracy Hospital in Tracy, California. He is the son of Allen Junior and Betty Jean (Nee: Pegg) Roemmich. Lynn was a member of the United States Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Cleveland (LPD-7) and the USS Monticello (LSD-35).
Lynn grew up on a little farm in Tracy, California, where he was educated and raised. His first jobs were standing in a farm field to guide crop dusters, beekeeping, and an apprentice tile setter, which would later become his passion. He left California to enlist in the U.S. Navy (1971-1974) and this is where he became the man most of us knew; an extreme personality that left his presence felt in any room. A man that told it like it is and lived with the decisions he made. Lynn was someone you could depend on and always willing to help a friend in need.
Following his time in the service he moved back home for a short time before he relocated to Indiana and had his only child, Michael. He worked for the Louisville Naval Ordnance Station (NSOL) building ammunition and major gun systems for naval battleships while living in New Albany, Indiana, until the base closed his department. After an unforgettable family trip to visit his home state of California, Lynn then moved to Florida and established his tile and contracting business in the mid 1990’s where he continued to work and help friends until his passing. Over the last 30 years, you could frequently catch him at Beefs or other local favorites talking to everyone he knew at the bar.
He enjoyed his friends and family more than anything else. Lynn was always willing to hang out and have a good time with a cold bud light in his hands. He loved music of all genres and went to so many memorable concerts in his lifetime. If you were lucky, you got invited to the house he built to go to one of the bars he built and decorated and party with music blasting, cold beer, and endless storytelling. He had a life worth living and we are sad that he is no longer in the room with us; but if he was your friend, every time you’re enjoying friends and family over a cold one, remember Lynn. They say, “You are only truly gone when the last person says your name for the last time”… and I know there are enough people he impacted in his lifetime that his name will live on for generations to come.
Lynn is survived by his spouse Roberta Winters of Port Charlotte, FL; son Michael Allen Roemmich of Batesville, IN; sisters Barbara Peters of Pahrump, NV, Carol Sue Taylor of Kennewick, WA, and Diane (George) Stock of Sacramento, CA; and many loved nieces and nephews. Lynn had an outgoing personality that attributed to a large extended family of close friends and personal relationships that traveled with him over many years in the many states he lived and traveled, too numerous to mention, but you know who you are. In addition to his parents, Lynn lost many close friends he considered his brothers and sisters over the years but always held them close to his heart and in his memories.
Florida visitation is Thursday, April 23rd, from 1 – 4 p.m., at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in Punta Gorda (1105 Taylor Rd, Punta Gorda, FL 33950 Far Right Door). Indiana visitation will be held Sunday, April 26th, from 1-3 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home (151 W. George St, Batesville, IN 47006). A private family burial will take place at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Borden, Indiana, at a later date.
A special THANK YOU to Terrance Stafford of Stafford and Simon Funeral Homes of Orlando, Florida, for caring for my dad during his passing.
