Marcus D. Bright's Obituary
Marcus D. Bright, age 48 of LaPorte, Indiana, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Born February 25, 1962 in Brentwood Essex, England, he is the son of Elaine (Nee: Foster) and Edwin Bright. He married Cami Scheele June 25, 2005 in Batesville, Indiana. He was a country club manager and chef.Marcus was a people person. A chef by trade, his real passion was cooking for family. He loved being with his family and would dazzle his children and nieces and nephews with magic tricks as well as teaching them silly songs he learned as a young child. Marcus enjoyed numerous interests during his free time. He was an avid golfer, coin collector, card player and a connoisseur of fine wines and clothing. According to his family he ironed everything! From shorts to sheets, they all got pressed. His family also indicated he was an amateur fisherman and hunter. Amateur meaning he wasn’t very good at either. “What he usually came home with was a story….and quite a story at that!” He certainly knew how to tell an entertaining story. Marcus was very proud when he became a U.S. citizen. It took nearly two years to accomplish, but he saw it all the way through. As proud as he was of his American citizenship, he was equally as proud of his English heritage. Notes or cards you received from him were signed off with “God Save the Queen.”He is survived by his wife Cami; daughters Sydney and Emma Bright of Granger, Indiana, Zeva Bright of LaPorte; son Jensen Bright also of LaPorte and brother Roderick “Nod” Smith of England. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Jane Smith and brother Timothy Smith. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 18th at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Flory officiating. A college trust fund for the children is being set up and memorials may be made to Cami in care of the trust fund.
