Margaret C. Kruthaupt's Obituary
Margaret C. Kruthaupt, age 96 of Morris, died Friday, December 17, 2010, at the Waters of Batesville. Born September 6, 1914 in Sunman, Indiana, she is the daughter of Emily (Nee: Larkin) and John McNamara. She married Edward Kruthaupt September 5, 1949 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Covington, Kentucky and he preceded her in death June 20, 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony’s Church and the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary. Margie was very devout and the church was an important part of her life. In addition to meeting her religious obligations, she also volunteered her time and talents for many of the church functions and events. With the help of her son Tommy, together they liked playing the role of Santa and the Easter Bunny during the holidays for her “extended family.” Although not related, she was very close to Sarah and Larry Riehle. So much so, that she referred to them as her adopted family. Their children and spouses, Sarah Leeann Riehle, Jeff & Stacy Riehle and Valarie and Aaron Hoff were like grandchildren to her and Carson and Kaylee Riehle and Michaela, Jonathan and Adriana Hoff like great grandchildren to her. They felt the same about Margie and enjoyed having an additional grandma to spend time with and recall always being treated to jelly beans and Hershey bars when they would stop by. While it was agreed that she was probably an average cook, her recipe for macaroni salad was the best. Because it seems like such a strange combination, her extended family got a chuckle from her favorite meal of fried chicken and ice cream cake. They also indicated she could be a tad stubborn when she wanted to be. Almost certain to be missed will be hearing her break out in song with "Old Time Rock n' Roll", a tradition started by Tommy that she continued after his death. In addition to her extended family, Margie is also survived by several cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward and son Tommy. Visitation is Monday, December 20th, from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 3:30 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris with Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Church or the Morris Volunteer Fire Department.
