Margie R. Litmer's Obituary
Marjorie R. Litmer, age 85 of Enochsburg, died Saturday, December 3, 2011, at her home. Born November 29, 1926 in Covington, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Loretta (Nee: Anthe) and William Fisher. She married Andrew “Gump” Litmer May 14, 1949 at St. John’s Church in Enochsburg. He preceded Margie in death on June 21, 1999. She was a member of St. John’s Church and worked as a prep cook at the Fireside Inn restaurant for 15 years.The oldest of three children, Margie was raised to be the boy her father never had. Her son told of the time when he was young that mom rebuilt the engine on the family’s Farmall tractor………and decades later, it is still being used regularly. She was artistic and an excellent free hand sketcher. Her creative talents also included arts and crafts as well as crocheting. Margie liked watching western movies and her son Lonnie’s love of the outdoor is something he comes by honest. From the time he was a baby in a bassinet, Margie would take him fishing with her. She loved that her family would stop in frequently to visit, especially the grandkids.She is survived by her son Lonnie of Greensburg; sisters Nettie Litmer of Enochsburg, Carol Litmer of Greensburg; five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents. Visitation is Wednesday, December 7th, from 9-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church in Enochsburg with Rev. John Geis O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
