Marie L. Chlopecki's Obituary
Marie L. Chlopecki, age 68 of Morris, died Sunday, July 21, 2013 at University Hospital in Cincinnati. Born March 9, 1945 in Brookfield, Illinois, she is the daughter of Sarah (Nee: Bonte) and John Depasse Sr. She married John Chlopecki June 29, 1968 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Although a homemaker for much of her life, Marie also was an art teacher for the Vigo County School Corporation. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Morris and the St. Anthony’s Ladies Sodality.A talented artist, Marie painted, carved, sculpted and worked with stained glass. Other interests included cross stitching and quilting. Her family described her as a perfectionist. While she was one to compare labels of products, she would always buy the name brand. She wanted people to have the best and her children were no exception. From clothes to Cabbage Patch Dolls for the girls to Star Wars toys for the boys and everything in-between, she loved to shop. John used to tease her “That they would be the richest people in the poor house.” Although John did most of the cooking, for good reason according to the kids, she did make delicious Christmas cookies and stroganoff. Having a sweet tooth, she loved John’s Rice Crispy treats and was one of those fortunate individuals that didn’t have to worry gaining weight. She collected all things Snoopy, had a wide variety of tastes in music and was a huge fan of the show Law and Order. Marie is survived by her husband John; daughters and son-in-laws Jeannette and Jeff Toms of Spring Grove, Illinois, Cheryl and Greg Hall of Rolling Meadows, Illinois; sons and daughter-in-laws John (David) and Jen Chlopecki of Palatine, Illinois, Kevin and Christine Chlopecki of River Vale, New Jersey; brothers Clarence Depasse of Menasha, Wisconsin, Ron Depasse of Terre Haute, Indiana, twin brother Gerald Depasse of Plainfield, Indiana and 11 grandchildren.
