Marie Iles' Obituary
Marie Iles, age 80 of Milan, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Born March 27, 1935 in Firth, Idaho, she is the daughter of Presha (Nee: Fri) and Russell Meek. She married Porter Iles April 25, 1951 in Dayton, Tennessee and he preceded her in death December 31, 1999. Marie was a homemaker and also worked as a cashier.
She enjoyed reading, especially Stephen King novels, like to laugh, watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, liked to ride around the countryside finding old barns to photograph as well as doing cross stitching and quilting. She made many pieces for each family member that have become family heirlooms. According to her family she apparently was lacking considerably in her cooking skills which may explain why she liked everyone else's. They were also amazed at her ability to do math in her head quickly and accurately. Often times faster than someone could with a calculator.
She is survived by her daughter Dawn Dieckmann of Osgood; sons John of Milan, David of West Chester, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great grandchildren. Marie wishes were to be cremated. A private family viewing will be held. The family requests memorials to the Alzheimer's Support Group of Southeastern Indiana.
