Marvin S. Vogelsang's Obituary
Marvin S. Vogelsang, age 82 of Batesville, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at the Ripley Crossing in Milan, Indiana. Born May 21, 1925 in Franklin County Indiana, he is the son of Elizabeth (Nee: Kuehn) and Henry Vogelsang. He married Mary Walke September 27, 1952 at St. Louis Church in Batesville.Marvin worked for Seagram’s Distillery in Lawrenceburg before being drafted into the Navy during WWII and returned to Seagram’s after the service as a Quality Control Supervisor, retiring September 30, 1988, after 44 years. He was a member of St. Louis Church; the Batesville Fireman’s Association; St. Leon American Legion Post #464 where he was a charter member and past Commander; Batesville Eagles Aerie #1130; a lifetime member of the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and served as a counselor for the Batesville chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous. Marvin had many interests including gardening; flowers; woodworking and he also enjoyed taking scenic rides in the car.He is survived by his wife Mary; daughter Debbie Amberger of Batesville; sons David (Frank) of St. Leon, Indiana; Gary, Ron (A.J.) and John, all of Batesville; Tom of Oldenburg; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his step sister Alvira Stevens.Visitation is Thursday, January 10th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, January 11th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery and military graveside rites will be conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. Memorials may be made to the Brenda Vogelsang Scholarship Fund or St. Louis School.
