Mary E. Borchelt's Obituary
Mary E. Borchelt, age 94 of Batesville, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at The Waters of Batesville. Born June 5, 1914 in Cedar Grove, Indiana, she is the daughter of Rose (Nee: Schuck) and Charles Fohl, Sr. She married Adrian Borchelt on September 11, 1937 at Cedar Grove and he preceded her in death April 11, 1998.Mary’s true passion was traveling with her husband and over the years they took many trips. Her favorite destination was Switzerland, where she was able to visit on a couple of occasions. She also liked the Scandinavian countries as well. She was an avid card player, playing Bridge and 500. She loved roses and hummingbirds and truly enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies with her grandchildren. She worked at Margaret Mary Hospital as a nurse’s aide for years before retiring. A member of St. Louis Church, she was also a member of the St. Louis Ladies Society. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws Donna and Jerry Werner of Okemos, Michigan, Deborah and Carl Werler of Pueblo West, Colorado; sons and daughter-in-law Harry “Hob” Borchelt of Livingston, Texas, J. Gregg and Kathy Borchelt of Reston, Virginia, David and Susan Blair Borchelt of Grand Forks, British Columbia; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Catherine Roell; brother Charles Fohl, Jr., great grandson Paul Werner and daughter-in-law Marilyn Borchelt.Visitation is Tuesday, July 15th, from 5–7 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 16th at St. Louis Church, with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Mind The Gap Foundation.
