Mary Jane Lartonoix's Obituary
Mary Jane Lartonoix, age 84 of Milan, Indiana, and formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Ripley Crossing Health Care in Milan. Born January 23, 1924 in St. Louis, she is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Carter) and Richard Bocklage. She was married in St. Louis to Jay Lartonoix and he preceded her in November 14, 1992. Mary Jane graduated from St. Louis University as a Registered Nurse. She was sent to Boston to set up a Pediatrics Ward and provide instruction for the staff, before returning to St. Louis where she worked at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center. Nursing was a natural calling for Mary Jane since her true passion was to be a care giver for anyone she could help. Mary Jane enjoyed several hobbies and interests. She was an avid golfer and bowler and liked oil painting and cross stitching as well. She was very devout and along with her faith, family was also extremely important to her.She is survived by daughters Deborah Nelson of Clayton, North Carolina, Jeanne Hanley of Batesville, Indiana, Marguerite Morand of Anaheim, California; sons Peter Lartonoix of St. Louis, Joseph Lartonoix of Jefferson City, Missouri, Daniel Lartonoix of St. Louis, Paul Lartonoix of Oviedo, Florida, John Lartonoix of Fairview Heights, Illinois; sisters Kathleen Whyte of Hawaii, Julie Walker of Columbia, Missouri, Jeanette Batz of St. Louis; brothers Richard Bocklage of Denver, Colorado, Vincent Bocklage of St. Louis; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Betty LaBarge.A memorial mass will be held 1 p.m., Monday, October 13th, at St. Louis Church in Batesville with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Interment of her ashes will be held at 12:45 p.m., on Wednesday, October 15th, at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. The family requests memorials the Alzheimer’s Association or the Ripley Crossing Activity Fund.
