Mary Homan "Mim" Hillenbrand's Obituary
Mary Homan "Mim" Hillenbrand, age 86 of Batesville, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at her residence. Born November 16, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Antoinette (Nee: Daly) and Joseph H. Homan. She married Daniel A. Hillenbrand on May 14, 1948 in Cincinnati and he preceded her in death May 17, 2010.
Mrs. Hillenbrand attended high school at St. Ursula Academy in Cincinnati and Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. She was a member of St. Louis Church, Hillcrest Country Club, Ocean Reef Club and the Sea Island Club.
Mrs. Hillenbrand was an strong, independent woman with a deep love for her husband Dan and her family. She was creative and an active gardener with an avid love for dogs and bird watching. She also was a licensed pilot and an excellent fisherman in addition to a being a trusted friend and wonderful mother.
Mrs. Hillenbrand is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Carol Lynne and Steve Vollmer, Diane Mary Hillenbrand, Janet Claire and Al Sherman; sister Joanne Schweer; grandchildren and spouses Hilary Lynne Vollmer, Stephen and Mary Beth Vollmer Jr., Mary Paige and Kristopher Vollmer King, Daniel Hillenbrand and Melanie Vollmer, Alexander Peter and Emily Vollmer, Meredith Claire Vollmer and Price McLane and nine great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Joseph L. Homan.
Services for Mrs. Hillenbrand will be private. The family requests memorials to the Southeastern YMCA or Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice Fund.
