Mary E. Taylor's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Taylor, age 65 of New Point, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at her daughters home in Hamburg. Born August 17, 1942 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Stella (Nee: Dwenger) and John Tekulve. She married Robert Taylor July 7, 1962 at St. Louis Church in Batesville.A graduate of St. Louis School and Batesville High School, she worked at the Ross Point Truck Stop for 15 years, New Point Cropmate 10 years, Modern Chemical 5 years, Oldenburg Academy 5 years and Schmidt’s Bakery 5 years. She retired to spend more time with her family and to watch her grandchildren.Mary volunteered her time and talents to many events. Church was important to her over the years she served on the Bereavement Committee, RCIA (Right of Christian Initiation for Adults), Cursillo Faith Enrichment Group, Eucharistic Minister, Marriage Encounter Group, Christ Renews His Parish Committee, and waitress for the church festival. She also was chairperson for the St. Jude’s Bike-A-Thon in New Point for over 25 years, was coordinator of the Crackaway Daze food stand, a member of the New Point Kiwanis club, the Batesville Historical Society and Daughters of Isabella. She had many hobbies and interests. Her true passion was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, taking family camping trips, playing Scrabble, visiting friends and old classmates throughout the country and having family over for gatherings. Being an excellent cook, her family especially enjoyed her delicious cookies, muffins and pies.She is survived by her husband Robert; children Terry Taylor of Germany, Tammy (Timothy) Kinn of Downers Grove, Illinois, Tim Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ted Taylor of West Port, Indiana and Traci (Tommy) Rowlett of Hamburg, Indiana; sisters Kathleen (Russell) Wagner Oldenburg, Indiana, Marlene (Steve) Buening of Greensburg, Indiana; brother Ronald “Bucky” (Sherry) Tekulve of Harrison, Ohio and grandchildren Kaitlan, Michelle and Patrick Kinn of Downers Grove, Illinois and Taylor, Tristan and Talan Rowlett of Hamburg, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Virginia “Ginny” Bruns and granddaughter Brittnie Taylor.Visitation is Friday, August 15th, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with rosary service at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday, August 16th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
