Maxine M. Walsman's Obituary
Maxine M. Walsman, age 74 of Batesville, died Friday, February 17, 2012 at home. Born July 18, 1937 in Ripley County Indiana, she is the daughter of Helen (Nee: Scheele) and Max Tekulve. She married Clete Walsman May 4, 1957 at St. Louis Church and he preceded her in death January 28, 2008. Although a homemaker for most of her life, she was a cook at Cricket Ridge restaurant for 15 years also.A devout women, her family indicated her faith was very important part of who she was. Her family also remembers her fried chicken and the ritual of making homemade sauerkraut each January to mark the beginning of the new year. Maxine was an avid reader and especially liked Danielle Steel novels. She enjoyed going for drives and her family teased about the fact that most of the T.V. she watched was limited to the Lifetime channel on cable television. Maxine’s greatest pleasure was time spent with her children and grandchildren. With some of the grandchildren getting old enough to play, she recently became a huge basketball fan and loved going to their games.She is survived by daughters Tami Peters, Tina Duncan and Teresa Fitzpatrick, all of Batesville, Tonya Fledderman of Boynton Beach, Florida; sons Tim of Greensburg, Toby of Batesville; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents. Visitation is Monday, February 20th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday with visitation in church one hour prior to services at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville. The family requests memorials to Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
