Mike was a compassionate person who listened to both sides of a story before he took action. He was considerate to the students who struggled in school. He implemented having a program at St. Louis School for children with learning disabilities. I was fortunate to work under him and see this program through fruition. Many of the students were able to graduate from St. Louis School and continue on to high school after having eight years of a Catholic education.
The students loved Mike. You could spot him in the lunch room having conversations with all the kids. They'd run up to him and tell him funny stories. He'd just laugh and move onto the next lunch table. A day wouldn't go by without him having students and teacher engagement.
To this day my own children love eating "Mr. A's Glazed Meatloaf". I hope he passed this recipe onto his own children. It was published in the 1992-93
St. Louis Cardinal Cookbook. (which I still have)
May Mike's memory and influences continue to live on.
