Michael A. Hummell's Obituary
Michael A. Hummell of Richmond, Indiana, died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Heritage House in Richmond. Born December 14, 1951 in Batesville, he is the son of Virginia (Nee: Paul) and Mitchell Hummell. He worked at Batesville’s Romweber factory 20 years and several years in maintenance in Richmond. Mike was an avid sports fan. In addition to following the Colts and Reds, he also liked watching basketball. Fishing, rabbit hunting and squirrel hunting were some of his favorite outdoor activities, taking his first squirrel at the age of 8. Getting in the car to take a drive, pizza, watching the people at Glen Miller Park in Richmond navigate their radio controlled planes and watching televisions’ Blue Collar Comedy Tour other pleasures he enjoyed. His family talked about his good heart, his love for his children and importance of spending time with family. They also mentioned he could be a little stubborn and kind of set in his ways, but was also quite the prankster.He is survived by his daughters Michelle Nanthalangsy of Sidney, Ohio, Virginia Hummell of French Lick, Indiana; sons Michael S. Hummell of Connersville, Indiana, Mitchell Hummell of Seymour, Indiana; mother Virginia Hummell of Moore Hill, Indiana; sisters Donna Miller of Richmond, Indiana, Gloria Cowin of Moores Hill; brother Mark Hummell of New York, New York and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father.Visitation is Friday, August 16th, from 9 a.m. until Noon at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to Holy Family Church or to Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
