Michael S. Weiler's Obituary
Michael S. Weiler, age 63 of Batesville, died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at his residence. Born May 24, 1947 in Batesville, he is the son of Anna (Nee: Estes) and Wilfred Weiler. He married Louise Grooms May 23, 1969 in Boston, Massachusetts. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post #777 of Indianapolis, St. Louis Church and the Indiana Bow Hunters Association. He was owner of Eye On You Photography retiring in 2007. To say Mike was passionate about the outdoors would be an understatement. An avid bow hunter of deer and turkey, he also hunted squirrels and raccoons, although he was notorious for getting lost whenever he went coon hunting. Other outdoor pleasures he loved were fishing and tending to a huge vegetable garden each year. He and Louise met when she was in the Job Corp and he was stationed in Boston. They attended a dance, knew it was love at first sight and were married one month later. Mike was a proud and devoted grandpa who enjoyed attending all of his grandkids sports activities and school functions. He is survived by his wife Louise; son Mike of Batesville; mother Anna Weiler of Batesville; sister Rebecca Brewer of Milford, Ohio; brothers Robert of Batesville, Richard of Virginia Beach, Virginia and grandchildren Matthew, Elizabeth, Emily and Kayden. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Cathy Weiler; sister Anne Weiler; grandparents Elmer and Floris Estes and grandmother Anna Weiler.Visitation is Tuesday, April 19th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20th at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stephen Akange officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to the National Archery in Schools Program or ALS Association (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease).
