Mildred M. "Millie" Lamping's Obituary
Mildred Margaret “Millie” Lamping, age 88 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at The Chateau of Batesville. Born August 16, 1937, in Batesville, she is the daughter of William and Mary (Nee: Schmidt) Sturwold. Millie married Herbert “Herb” Lamping on July 16, 1960, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peter’s, Indiana.
Millie worked as a cook at the Pizza Haus for 25 years before transitioning to housekeeping department at Hill-Rom for another 12 years, before retiring. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers on the family mini farm. She loved animals and was known to sneak her “Punpkin” some home cooking under the table. She was also an amazing cook who would routinely prepare home cooking for the family. Millie was also a Knights of St. John’s Ladies’ Auxiliary member.
She is survived by her daughters Sharon (Nick) Doll and Barb (Terry) Flodder, all of Batesville; son Brian (Kelly) Lamping of Guilford, Indiana; daughter-in-law Leisa Lamping of Moores Hill, Indiana; sister Velma Knecht of Milroy, Indiana; grandchildren Kim Thompson, Craig Doll, Jason Flodder, Chris Doll, Kelsey Ostermyer, Brad Lamping, Heather Wilson, and Abby Lamping and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by her husband Herbert “Herb” Lamping; son Dale Lamping; sister Janet Gunter; and brother Earl Sturwold.
Visitation is Friday, December 26th, from 9:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m., at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., immediately following at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, with Fr. Stan Pondo officiating. The burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ripley County Humane Society or Our Hospice.
