Mildred L. Smith's Obituary
Mildred L. Smith, age 86 of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Batesville, Indiana, died Monday, February 20, 2006 at the Four Seasons Care Center in Columbus. Born October 27, 1919 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, she is the daughter of Pearl (Nee: Hall) and John Harvey. She married Gayle Smith on November 7, 1937 at Grady, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on August 31, 1999.Mildred was a homemaker, blessed with many friends and a joyful spirit. Known as the "Angel Lady", she did beautiful and intricate cross-stitch needlework, often choosing angels for her designs.She is survived by her daughters Sheila Molock of Altheimer, Arkansas and Cecilia Ann Carvin and her husband Dan of Nashville, Indiana; sons Martin "Bud" Smith and his wife Linda of Grady, Arkansas and G. Frank Smith of Columbus, Indiana; daughter-in-law Vicki Peters Smith; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by her parents.Visitation is Thursday, February 23rd, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m., at St. Louis Church, with the Rev. Daniel Mahan officiating. Burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Bartholomew County.
