Mitchell C. “Mitch” Hummell, age 78 of Moores Hill, Indiana, died Monday, December 11, 2006 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Born April 16, 1928 in Newpoint, Indiana, he is the son of Georgia (Nee: Hardy) and James T. Hummell. He married Virginia Paul on August 10, 1949 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, Indiana.Mitch worked as a Caretaker over the years for numerous family estates. He was a military veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #0777 and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and antiques.He is survived by his wife Virginia Hummell of Moores Hill, IN; daughters Donna Miller of Richmond, IN, Gloria Cowin of Moores Hill, IN; sons Mike Hummell of Richmond, IN, Mark Hummell of New York, NY; sisters Mary Gunter of Batesville, IN, Evelyn Osborne of Florida; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Carter, Sarah Bayless; brothers Henry, James and Billy Hummell.Visitation is Thursday, December 14th, from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, IN, with Rev. Rock Travnikar, O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
