Monica P. Weberding's Obituary
Monica P. Weberding, age 94 of Batesville, Indiana, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born March 28, 1914 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Emma (Nee: Rohe) and Albert Dirks. She married William J. Weberding June 8, 1940 at St. Louis Church in Batesville and he preceded her in death on September 29, 2005.Monica was a homemaker and past president of the St. Louis Ladies Society and the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an accomplished embroiderer and over the years an avid card player with “500” and “Knock 31” among her favorite games. Liking games of chance, she especially loved playing bingo and looked forward to weekly Thursday night bingo’s at St. Louis Church. She loved having her grandchildren around and when the house quieted down, she enjoyed working word search puzzles. Monica was an excellent cook and her family affectionately reminisces about her turtle soup, pies, coffee cake and fried chicken. For decades, she would bake six pies and six coffee cakes on Saturday morning to prepare for the families' traditional Sunday fried chicken dinner. According to her children, by the end of the weekend, there were no leftovers. She is survived by her daughters Mary Ann Struewing, Shirley Hannebaum; sons William G. “Buzz”, Terry and Timothy Weberding, all of Batesville; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Antoinette Hermisch, Edna Hermisch and brothers Lambert and Clem Dirks.Visitation is Thursday, February 5th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, with a prayer service conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 Ladies Auxiliary at 6 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Friday, February 6th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School or Batesville E.M.S. 10.
