Having Monsignor Schmitz in our lives was a blessing to us and all who knew him. He was not only a priest to our family, but a great friend. He will be greatly missed my our family and those in our community.

My mother Hildegard, has been unable to attend church for a long time. Msgr.Schmitz would come and visit her at home. She awaited his visits with so much joy. The sun seemed to shine just a little brighter on these days. He will be greatly missed.
My children and I were out for a walk one day across the street from St. Anthony's. We decided to take a little break and go inside the church and say a little prayer for some people and just see what the church looked like. Msgr. Schmitz came out and said hello to us. We talked about family members of mine that he knew and different things. He was very kind, welcoming and warm. The children took to him immediately and he spent sometime with them telling them about different saints and gave them some medals to take home. We had only met him just that day but were so taken with how kind and generous he was to us. We knew right away how special and important he became to us and has always been in our hearts ever since. He was a stepping stone in our family's spiritual journey
He will be greatly missed!
