Myrt Moody's Obituary
Myrt Moody, age 83 of Batesville, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at home. Born September 10, 1927 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of Doris (Nee: Hoffman) and Earl Mondary. She married William Moody January 24, 1946 in Newport, Kentucky and he preceded her in death April 29, 2006. She worked as a sales clerk for Blanks Pharmacy nearly 20 years before retiring. If you knew Myrt, you knew she was quite a character. A fan of country music and high school sports, she had WRBI on the radio pretty much non-stop. She also had the police scanner going too, keeping up with what was happening in town. Myrt liked to go for rides and many will remember seeing her with her daughter Deb, who would take her around regularly. For many years she enjoyed her vegetable garden as well as raising mums. Her children indicated mom was an excellent cook. “She loved to cook. She would be up at 4 in the morning and start right in. She had what seemed like a thousand cookbooks.” While everyone had a different favorite that mom made, they agreed that her homemade noodles were outstanding. They also laugh about mom “shopping the Goodwill” several times a week. What she loved the most was time spent with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Donna Ruggles of Milan, Indiana, Chris Vogelsang of Batesville; brother Raymond Mondary of California; eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Deb Harrington; sister Jean Lewis and brothers Billy, Frankie and Victor Mondary.Visitation is Tuesday, January 25th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 26th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stephen Akange officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Hansen Center or Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
