Naomi R. Peters' Obituary
Naomi R. Peters, age 87 of Batesville, died Monday, February 10, 2014 at her home. Born August 2, 1926 in Napoleon, Indiana, she is the daughter of Sadie (Nee: Heart) and Clyde Grow. She married Ellis Peters July 1, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Crossroads and he preceded her in death April 28, 2012. She worked as a sales clerk at Carolyn’s Cameras for 30 years before retiring and was a member of the Batesville United Methodist Church.Among her hobbies, near the top was feeding and watching her birds. She especially enjoyed her hummingbirds. For years she made arts and crafts and was still creating hand painted Christmas ornaments this past holiday season. She used to crochet quite a bit and liked reading Nora Roberts novels. Her family teased that Naomi wasn’t the best cook, but made up for it by preferring to eat out. They also mentioned she had a sweet tooth, has watched the soap “Days of Our Lives” since it debuted in 1965 and that she loved traveling to horse shows with Ellis through the years.Naomi is survived by her daughters Vickie Smith of Columbus, Indiana, Connie Schebler of Batesville, Judith Newman of Morris, Indiana, Jacqueline Peters of New Point, Indiana; son Rick Peters of Indianapolis, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Peters and brothers Clyde and Alvin Grow.Visitation is Friday, February 14th, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at the Batesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Dimick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Batesville Dialysis Activities Fund or the Batesville United Methodist Church.
