Neal T. Laugle's Obituary
Neal T. Laugle, age 83 of Batesville, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at his home. Born May 21, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he is the son of Margaret (Nee: Reilly) and Millard Laugle. He married Billie Moorman March 31, 1951 at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Neal served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271, Eagles Aerie #1130 and St. Louis Church.Neal was a permanent mold caster and ran his own business, NTL Products, for forty years. Then he worked at 3-D products in Dayton for seven years mold casting and model making before retiring. Neal had a knack for working with metal and several of his examples can be seen around town. The memorial statue at the city pool, the cross atop St. Louis Church and the crucifix on the tabernacle at the convent in Oldenburg are just a few examples of his work. He was a talented wood worker as well. Over the years he made several pieces for Billie that included a boot table, a grandfather clock and the curio cabinet she had always wanted. Neal enjoyed spending time outdoors, so naturally that’s where his hobbies took him. He loved playing golf, deer hunted for many years and liked growing things in his vegetable and flower gardens. His family said “dad’s gardening techniques were unorthodox, but they worked. He could grow anything.” However, now that Neal is gone, the kids are left to ponder the mystery of brussels sprouts on their own. Neal also thought a gin martini now and again was a good thing. In recent years he became a fan of the board game “Probe” and played whenever family would gather and that was his greatest joy – time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife Billie; daughters Jane Narwold of Atlanta, Georgia, Julie Donahue of Springfield, Illinois, Jill Konradi of Batesville, Jenny Brebberman of Indianapolis, Janice Cleary of Indianapolis; sons Tom of Portland, Oregon, Paul of New Point, Jack of Indianapolis, Bob of Indianapolis; brothers Gene of Indianapolis, John of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; eighteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Linda Laugle and brother Millard.Visitation is Tuesday, March 13th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183. The family requests memorials to The Prell-Bland American Legion or to St. Louis School.
