Paris William Dwenger's Obituary
Paris William Dwenger, 86, of Osgood, Indiana, passed away Friday, December 26, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Born March 15, 1939, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Waldo and Ann (Woods) Dwenger. He married the love of his life, Phyllis Ann Caudill, on May 21, 1977, in Moores Hill, Indiana.
Paris was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea. He had a strong work ethic, often ahead of his time. At age 13, he began driving dump trucks and enlisted at the age of 17. He later spent decades at the Batesville Casket Company, where he worked until his retirement in 2001. After retiring, he didn't slow down, going on to own and operate Dwenger Construction & Lawn Care with his son. He was also a member of the Batesville American Legion Post #271.
Paris never met a stranger and was known for his wit and sense of humor. He was a straightforward man who prioritized his family and enjoyed the simple things: classic cars, family gatherings, being outdoors, and a cold beer with a stogie. When asked the secret to his good health, he always responded, “Good clean livin’!”
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughters Candis (Terry) Musser, Tamara (John) Fledderman, Trisha (Daniel) Egleson, and Jodi (Josh) Smith; sons Melvin (Chelsa) Dwenger and Casey (Johanna) Schutte; daughter-in-law Cindy Miller; 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one brother, Henry (Joe) Dwenger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Greg Miller, Timothy Dwenger, and Paris (Joe) Dwenger; brother Waldo “Tubby”; and sisters Emma “Sis” and Hazel “Toots.”
Visitation: Saturday, January 3rd, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Jason Benge officiating. Interment: New Craven Cemetery in Milan, with military rites conducted by the Ripley County VFW Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271.
