Paul F. Kinker's Obituary
Paul F. Kinker, age 84 of Pickerington, Ohio and formerly of Batesville, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at The Woodlands of Columbus. Born January 15, 1931 in Decatur County Indiana, he is the son of Catherine (Nee: Wessling) and Frank Kinker. He married Nancy Siebert August 10, 1957 at St. John's Church in Enochsburg, Indiana and she preceded him in death February 7, 2015. He served in the army during the Korean War and would come home to work at Batesville Tool & Die as a machinist and Quality Control Supervisor, retiring in 1995 after 35 years. He was a member of St. Louis Church.
His daughter described dad as living a pretty simple life. He didn't necessarily have a lot of hobbies, but those he had, he thoroughly enjoyed. A passion for cars, Paul took exceptional care of the family vehicles, detailing and tinkering on them to keep them looking and running good. Additionally, the family indicated Paul liked sports of all sorts. He didn't have a preference to a particular sport or team, but if there was a game on T.V., he was probably watching. They also said that although both mom and dad both loved animals, dad was especially fond of Gabby the cat. Undoubtedly though, his greatest joy was the beach. Nancy and Paul liked to travel and would take trips to southern towns where they would stay at or near the beach and delighted in the simple pleasure of walking on the beach. Among their favorite destinations was Charleston, South Carolina.
He is survived by his daughter Stephanie Pearce of Pickerington, Ohio; son Samuel Kinker of Barbersville, West Virginia; sister Rita Mae Vanderpohl of Harrison, Ohio; granddaughters Hannah Clark, Leah Kinker, Rachael Pearce; grandsons Nathan and Seth Kinker, Alexander Pearce and great granddaughter Ella Kinker. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Mary Jane Geis and brothers Robert, Orville and Raymond Kinker.
It was Paul's wishes to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 28th, at St. Louis Church. A memorial service follows at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery.
