Paul W. "Potz" Enzinger's Obituary
Paul W. “Potz” Enzinger Sr., age 86 of Batesville, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Heritage House in Greensburg. Born January 6, 1926 in Batesville, he is the son of Rose (Nee: Kobe) and Louis Enzinger. He married Virginia Seevers August 13, 1946 at St. Louis Church in Batesville and she preceded him in death on June 27, 2010. Potz served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he went to work for Bohn Aluminum in Greensburg as a factory worker and later became a foreman before retiring in 1988 after 35 years. He was a member of St. Louis Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #1461.There were two common themes in most of Potz’s hobbies. They were sports and the outdoors. To say he loved to golf would be an enormous understatement. But then he also loved playing baseball and going fishing as well. One of the few indoor activities he enjoyed was bowling, spending many years as a league bowler. He followed the Reds on the radio, I.U. basketball and liked doing word search puzzles. As you can imagine his choice of television programs leaned heavily towards sports, although his family teased him about his attraction to the Game Show Network. Potz believed breakfast was the most important meal and his days typically began with bacon and eggs or a big bowl of cereal but, his children laughed about his fondness of sauerkraut. His greatest joy was spoiling his grandchildren. He is survived by daughters Constance Munchel of Milroy, Indiana, Barbara Koester of Batesville; sons Lawrence of Batesville, Paul Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers William of Bloomington, Indiana, Louie of Hamburg, Indiana; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by sisters Helen Rose Doyle, Mary Moody and two grandchildren. Visitation is Sunday, May 6th, from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 1 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, May 7th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. John Geis officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183. The family requests memorials to the Heritage House.
