Raymond A. Bloemer's Obituary
Raymond A. “Boz” Bloemer, age 85 of Batesville, died Tuesday, January 30th, at St. Andrews Health Campus. Born February 12, 1921 in Batesville, he is the son of Cora (Nee: Engle) and George Bloemer. Boz served in the Navy during WWII. After the service, he resumed work as a telephone lineman and repairman for the Batesville Phone Co., which became Verizon, retiring in 1983 after 42 years. He was an avid baseball fan, playing semi-pro baseball for 20 years with Batesville Bullets of the Tri-County League and was a life long Cincinnati Reds fan. He also enjoyed bowling and belonged to several leagues over the years.He is survived by his former wife Opal Bloemer of Batesville; daughter Mary Kay Hacker of Batesville; sons Gordon Giesting of Oldenburg; Gary Giesting of Martinsville, Indiana, Raymond “Rick” Bloemer of Batesville; sisters Georgeann Flory of Greensburg, Alma Miller of Batesville; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister Rosemary Stehlin.Visitation is Friday, February 2nd, from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiating. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183. Memorials may be made to Batesville E.M.S. 10.
