Regina J. "Reggie" Holtel's Obituary
Regina J. “Reggie” Holtel, age 85 of Batesville, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. Born September 15, 1928 in Covington, Kentucky, she is the daughter of Marguerite (Nee: Belli) and Carl Jacks. She married Harold “Bud” Holtel October 6, 1951 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio and he preceded her in death June 25, 2013. Reggie was very proud to have worked for Margaret Mary Community Hospital as a Surgical Nurse in the operating room, before retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Louis Church and was a bingo and church festival volunteer. She also volunteered at M.M.C.H. and MD Anderson Cancer Center talking to and supporting other cancer patients.According to her family, Reggie was an excellent seamstress, having made clothing for her daughters when they were young and also was a very good cook and baker, with her Christmas cookies being a family favorite. She loved to golf and play cards, especially bridge and 500 with her grandchildren and she loved attending her grandchildren’s many activities. Reggie and Bud loved to travel throughout the United States as well as abroad with trips to Disney World and the Finger Lakes with the grandchildren among their favorites. She loved to meet weekly with her “coffee klatch” ladies taking turns visiting each other’s homes. She is survived by daughters and son-in-laws Mimi and Robert Ryan of Batesville, Donna and Tom Duffy of Hollis, New Hampshire, Susan Arcy of Dublin, Ohio, Sharon and Val Berger of Carmel, Indiana; sister Mary Ann Jacks of Batesville; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband Bud, she was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Angele Holtel.Visitation will be Monday, December 30th, from 9 – 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services are Monday, December 30th, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Church in Batesville, with Rev. Randy Summers officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Batesville United Methodist Church Summer Food Program.
