Rita M. Ertel's Obituary
Rita M. Ertel, age 82 of Batesville, died Friday, February 16, 2007, at Margaret Mary Hospital. Born June 10, 1924 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Anna (Nee: Brickner) and Harry Wernke. She married Harry Ertel February 14, 1943 in Tallahassee, Florida and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2000.Rita was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary’s of the Rock Church and the Batesville “Red Hatters”. She also was an avid card player and especially enjoyed playing “Solo”. She is survived by daughters Donna McDaneld of Larkspur, California, Rebecca Simon of Long Grove, Illinois, Catherine Kaiser and Marianne Lambert, both of Batesville; sons Ron, Jerry and Kenneth, all of Batesville, Bill of Milan, Michael of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Carla Ertel; sisters Marie Miller, Martha Robbins and brothers Michael and Raymond Wernke.Visitation is Tuesday, February 20th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 6 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 21st, at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church with Rev. Humbert Moster O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Stained Glass Window Fund or St. Louis Schools’ Lil Kennel Fund.
