Rita R. Gartenman's Obituary
Rita R. Gartenman, age 85 of Batesville, died Friday, July 4, 2008, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Born February 8, 1923 in Oldenburg, Indiana, she is the daughter of Elizabeth (Nee: Lamping) and Joseph Tebbe. She married Arthur Gartenman June 6, 1945, at St. Louis Church in Batesville. Rita worked as an obstetrics technician at Margaret Mary Hospital 33 years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of St. Louis Church, the St. Louis Ladies Society and was a founding member of the St. Louis Bereavement Committee. Rita had many interests over the years. She liked making ceramic pieces, flower gardens and was a back yard bird watcher. She also made afghans and baby blankets for members of her family and was an avid card player. She enjoyed her card clubs and spending time with friends and family. In recent years she preferred to spend less time in the kitchen and looked forward to dining out. Rita was also very devout.She is survived by her husband Art; daughter Donna Feller; son Dan Gartenman, both of Batesville; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by 6 sisters and 6 brothers.Visitation is Monday, July 7th, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 8th, at St. Louis Church with Rev. Carl Hawver O.F.M. and her nephew Rev. Francis Tebbe O.F.M. co-concelebrating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School or Hospice of Margaret Mary Hospital.
