Robert A. Kinker Sr.'s Obituary
Robert A. Kinker Sr., age 84 of Greensburg, died Monday, January 30, 2012, at the Waters of Batesville. Born January 27, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he is the son of Catherine (Nee: Wessling) and Frank Kinker. He attended St. John’s School before graduating from New Point High School in 1946. Bob married Lillian Haunert October 25, 1952 at St. Maurice Church in St. Maurice, Indiana. He served in the army during the Korean War, becoming a farmer after the service. In addition to farming and raising feeder pigs, he also hauled milk for 30 years, starting when he turned sixteen. Many will also remember him as their school bus driver. After he stopped hauling milk, he drove for the Decatur County Schools 28 years before retiring. As a bus driver he was a stickler for time and his family said, “You could set your watch by his route”. Bob loved sports of all kinds and spent many years coaching flag football and little league baseball in New Point. According to his family other interests including being out in the woods, squirrel hunting on opening day and apparently he could spin a pretty good tale. He is survived by his wife Lillian; sons and daughter-in-laws Robert Jr. and Paula Kinker, Douglas Kinker, Stephen and Pamela Kinker, all of Greensburg; sister Rita Mae Vanderpohl of Harrison, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law Paul and Nancy Kinker of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren Karen Brancamp, Rebecca Kinker and great grandson Braylon Brancamp. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Mary Jane Geis and brothers Orville and Raymond Kinker.There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 2nd, at St. John’s Church in Enochsburg with Rev. John Geis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. John’s Church Building Fund or the New Point Fire Department.
