Robert L. Simmermeyer's Obituary
Robert L. Simmermeyer, age 83 of Batesville, Indiana, died Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Heritage House in Greensburg, Indiana. Born February 18, 1927 in Franklin County Indiana, he is the son of Marie (Nee: Etter) and Otto Simmermeyer. He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis.Bob worked at Rex Manufacturing in Connersville and Romweber’s Furniture in Batesville for many years. He also helped out at several farms and saw mills in the area. An avid card player he enjoyed playing 500, Solo and Uno as well as doing word search puzzles. In his younger years, he kept his lawn well manicured by mowing several times a week. Bob’s faith was an important part of his life and although most probably didn’t know that for years he was in charge of opening up St. Louis Church at 4 a.m. each morning, they probably remember that he continued to help St. Louis Church and St. Anthony’s Church as a server into his adulthood. He is survived by sisters Mary Burks of Lafayette, Indiana and Gussie Ertel of South Bend, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Theresa Sparks, Esther Ransom and brothers Jim, John, Tom and Mike Simmermeyer.Visitation is Monday, January 24th, from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., at St. Anthony Church in Morris, with Rev. Pascal Nduka officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
