Rosella A. Narwold's Obituary
Rosella A. Narwold, age 82, died in Batesville on December 25, 2014. She was one of nine children of the late Anna (Nee: Hartman) and Louis Obermeyer, born January 24, 1932 in Batesville.
She married Raymond Narwold June 21, 1952 at St. Louis Church where she remained a member. He preceded her in death September 14, 2012. Rosella is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Jane Narwold of Lake Spivey, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and John Stapp of Greensburg, Indiana; grandchildren John Trevor Stapp of Greensburg, Kristina (Carroll) Crisp of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Nathan (Lauren) Narwold of Nashville, Tennessee, Shelby Narwold of Atlanta, Georgia and great grandchildren Carson Crisp and Ethan Narwold. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by sisters Helen Rose Harpring, Cleona Langferman and brothers Leonard, Clarence, Paul, Raymond and Frank Obermeyer.
Rosella was an avid gardener, able to start new plants from clippings and shoots and willing to help others with these new plant births. One of her favorite goals was growing plants for the St. Louis Church bazaar. Her green thumb and patience enabled many to enjoy the love of her plants. Other hobbies included sewing and quilting. She was able to leave her legacy with many including individual quilts for each of her grandchildren. Recently she completed quilts for both great grandchildren that they use each day. With a mile wide smile, she was able to see them play on them in videos just a few days prior to her leaving her life on this earth.
Her pride in perfection was not only limited to gardening and quilting but cooking as well. She used her knowledge of cooking to offer the treats of her kitchen to many who could not or were not able to cook on their own. Like many of her era, she remembered the times when things were simpler. The stories of walking to school in waist deep snow were a tradition. Her ability to take the simple….whether in food, plants or home décor and make something beautiful and memorable will never be forgotten. She also was religious about her daily walks, developing many a friend during these power walks. She had a tender heart for neighbors, friends and relatives with an intense caring and prayer during their time of need.
Visitation is Monday, December 29th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 30th at St. Louis Church with Rev. Damian Cesanek officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. Louis School Tuition Angels.
